Diana Oosterbeek- Latoza wins ZAMI Award
It was a moment of jubilation for the group of Filipinas who attended the 12th Black Magic Woman Festival on November 15, when Diana Oosterbeek- Latoza of Stichting Bayanihan was proclaimed the winner of the ZAMI AWARD 2007.
The ZAMI AWARD is a yearly nominated prize wherein the strength, dedication, quality and uniqueness of black, migrant and refugee women are recognized and honoured. Emphasis is given on the distinguishing contribution of these women within the Dutch society and most especially their outstanding influence in the empowerment and participation of all women in general. The winner will receive a handmade pin and monetary prize.
The theme of this year's Festival is "Daughters and Fathers". Based on this subject, the jury looked at how the fathers of black, migrant and refugee women have influenced the lives of their daughters and made them empowered and active women of the present time. Participation was open to all migrant women groups following the given criteria established by Stichting ZAMI.
